After 30 years of experience as a programme designer/director, consultant, therapist and clinical supervisor in California, Dennis Durby moved to London in early 2005.

With expertise in working with couples and families, anger and family violence, trauma, sexual issues, anxiety, depression, and addictions, Dennis located his practice and NexusWest to Central London in 2010. Dennis’s experience additionally includes teaching at the post-graduate level, and as a consultant and coach to organisations and companies. Dennis holds advanced qualification as a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (psychotherapy) in the USA, and Senior Accreditation as a psychotherapist from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Originally from California, Dennis was a psychotherapist, clinic director and trainer of professionals before moving to the UK. Post-qualification, he trained in Post Induction Therapy with Pia Mellody in treating trauma, Codependence, Love Addiction/Love Avoidance, and in Couples work; with Terrence Real in Relational Therapy; in Sex Addiction Therapy with Dr Patrick Carnes; in EMDR with Dr Francine Shapiro; in ACT (Action and Commitment Therapy with Martin Wilks and Henry Whitfield; in Gestalt Therapy with Dr David Gorton; and in Brainspotting (BSP) with Dr David Grant.

Dennis has a Masters in Social Work (MSW-Clinical) and holds Senior Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and is a Certified Sex Addictions Therapist (CSAT). He was awarded a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (DCSW) in 1995 from the National Association of Social Workers (USA). He has published articles and book chapters in the areas of sexuality and ageing/health. He is a full member of the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP).
