Commercial self care for therapists

More info

Tamara Howell began her career in the field in 2007 as a peer support volunteer at PomisTreatment Centre in London, accompanying patients to 12-step meetings then assisting therapists in process groups as a cofacilitator. She completed her training placement at The Priory Hospital North London in 2008 whilst obtaining her Master’s degree at London South Bank University.

In 2009, she was employed as a counsellor then the manager at the Kairos Aftercare Programme, a charity in South London which supports vulnerable people in their recovery from addictive disorders. Alongside this she opened a part-time private practice at Kingyo Therapy in London before moving to Paris in 2011.

As some of her clients in London preferred to continue work together, Tamara undertook training to provide teletherapy as per BACP guidelines. She provides therapy to adolescents and adults in the Paris anglophone community and offers workshops on codependence, body image and love addiction.

She worked exclusively online when living in Tel Aviv 2015-2017, and complies with the highest standards of care and regulation as this modality has gained popularity.
